The Crane Operator is responsible for operating a number of independent (lifting) activities, during which he is responsible for the preparation (assembly) and operation of the crane.

Additional tasks of the Crane Operator are performing routine maintenance and the maintenance and inspection of the corresponding lifting equipment supplied with the crane.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate crane under general supervision.

• Manipulate cane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according verbal, or signal instructions.

• Carryout minor repairs to the crane as needed.

• Inspect crane for safety issues on a daily basis.

• Determine if any parts are malfunctioning.

• Complete Daily/Weekly Inspection Reports, Daily Hire Sheets, and all other necessary paperwork.

• Lift, position and place various loads, equipment or other objects on GPSS/Client sites and industrial facilities.

• Drive cranes to various worksites.

• Rig crane to manufacturers’ specifications, place Nylacast Mats under outriggers to prevent overturning when lifting heavy loads.

• Operate levers to rotate crane, raise and lower crane boom and to raise and lower hoist rope.

• Work within the crane limits.

• Operate crane according to signals from Signaller.

• Follow directions carefully.

• Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed by GPSS Crane Division Managing Director.

JOB QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

• Hold a clean, current and full driving licence with a C category.

• Hold a current CPCS or NPORS card with the category of Mobile Crane.

• Fluent in both spoken and written English.

• Be in good state of health as there may be some lifting required.

• Be able to work as part of a team and also work on own using own initiative.
